New Video for families
Hello everyone! I am so excited to release the first single and video from my new family/children’s album Little Leaf! Here is our new video of the title track. It has long been my dream to shoot a one-take video, and in fact we only took one take of this, filmed on an iPhone in Algonquin Park by my pal Drew Birston. Watch all the way through to see our friends and families joining in 🙂 https://youtu.be/11AvH7YR2OQ
The song is inspired by my long-time collaborator, Ojibway Elder Dr. Duke Redbird, and the lyrics are based on conversations with Duke, and pulled from his poems ‘Little Leaf’ and ‘Sparrow’, which I really love. The lyrics speak to how all living beings around us are part of our community. You can pick up a leaf, and name it – when you name the plants and the animals around you, they become personal, and you see them as part of your circle. The children in the video also represent little leaves, falling free from their parents and becoming independent, while forever connected to their family and natural environment.
